Today 17th day of June 2018 at St. Paul’s Catholic Mission Ahule, Makurdi of the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi in Benue State of Nigeria, the celebration of mothers’ day began with mass officiated by the Pastor and Priest in charge of the St. Paul Catholic Mission Ahule by 8:00 am.

In his sermon Reverend Father James Orshoja Utav advised women to be mothers first and foremost and secondly imbibe the virtues of Virgin Mary who is a mother by example. He further encouraged them to be the first teacher to their children instead of leaving everything to the classroom teacher. He concluded by enjoining every parishioner and all the invitees to support the mothers to make the day a memorable one.

In their thanksgiving to God the Almighty, the president of the Catholic Women Organisation in the mission Mrs Christiana Achagh with all his EXCO invited all the worshippers to join them in thanking God for His goodness. In her reaction, the wife of Benue State Governor Mrs Eunice Ortom Phd who was represented encourage women to be supportive of the societal development.

Mothers day is a day set aside by the Catholic Church to commemorate, celebrate and remind women of their role in building the family, church and the entire society, Virgin Mary serving as a model to all the womenfolk.

There were lots of side attractions including dancing, jokes, presentations and a lot more.
